cudo's to A&L
Needed exh manifold gaskets for the A today, took a 40 min ride and went to A&L, wonderful people, they are in the process of making "new" sparton horns, was shown how they start from sheet stock to the finished product, fascinating, and hundreds of other parts. A wonderful "A" experience.

Re: cudo's to A&L
A&L is primalily a manufacturer of very high quality reproduction Model A parts. They also sell to local club members as a courtesy. They are not really a mailorder house. Snyder's and Bratton's stock most of parts produced by A&L. You can get a limited catalog from A&L by calling 1-860-693-0112. Don't expect a bargain though. Like any ethical wholesaler, they will not under cut their retailers.

Re: cudo's to A&L
I have been buying from Allen and his father since the early 60's and have never made it to his shop. Sure would love to go but it is a long way from Chicago.
It is nice to hear wonderful things said about them. Allen's Father Al did a lot for our hobby and he will always be remembered by Model A guys, Ken |

Re: cudo's to A&L
Great post! I never knew walkins were welcomed and that parts were made on site. I thought a lot of the parts were made at a local trade school, maybe that was years ago and things have changed.

Re: cudo's to A&L
I am also very close to A&L and it is a real treat to go into their shop. They are always working on some aspect of manufacturing A parts. They are wonderful to deal with. You can go in and talk about what you are doing and what you think you need they will work with you. If they don't have something they will get it to you. No salesman pressure just great advice. There have been times when I have gone up there to get something that may need a little assembly and they will do it with you.
Stuff you just can't buy through a catalog! |

Re: cudo's to A&L
I too have purchased parts from A &L since the 60's. Al was always my first choice when ordering parts knowing the quality. Al will certainly be missed and made many contributions to our hobby. Al filled an order for me just prior to his passing; in the package he sent me one of his new "B" Carburator Venturi to get my opinion.
I'm sure the family will continue the same quality in the future as his son worked with Al to learn the Tool and Die making process. Ron |
