Default battery polarity

newly acquired 37 v8. i see that the negative is grounded and positive goes to starter. Manual says the other way around. Engine turns over with negative ground. Should I change it. Thanks for responses.

The car came from the factory with a positive ground. You need to check all the connections, be careful if someone has changed the whole car over.

Was informed on the HAMB only difference between a positive ground and negative ground system is the battery connections. Rest of components it makes no difference. Not sure it it is 100% correct, but have read the same elsewhere.

BE CAREFUL, guys! SOME radios are really picky (sensitive) when it comes to GROUNDING! Coop/AMERICAN

Before changing back to a pos ground system, make sure there are no non original electrical components fitted in your car such as more modern radio, alternator, electronic ignition etc which require neg ground. Regards, Kevin.
