Default 0.083 over piston rings

I've got a set of pistons 0.083" over stock 3 3/16". Were these made for use after removal of stock sleeves? Any ideas where I can track down a set of rings? Tried hastings and no such luck...

Those were made exactly for the purpose you'd stated. Pull the sleeves, hone the block, install new oversize pistons. fast and reasonable.

The availability of those pistons dried up decades ago making them valuable. I do not know whether or not they are now being reproduced.

I bought my pistons from Egge for my 8BA. They were their stock 4 ring piston spcl order so it takes a couple of weeks to get them.

Seems like I ran stock Hastings .080 rings, the .003 dia difference shouldn’t translate into a appreciable difference in the final end gap measurement......
Also used total seal to seat the rings.

I believe JWL posted that he may have some of the .083" over stuff he'd sell. Might contact him to see.

Use .080 rings if need be. I couldn’t find any .083 rings when I rebuilt a Flathead for a friend so I used .080. Still running strong after 20 years and many miles.

Might as well go to .125 over. @0 more cubs and one point in CR. Angle mill the heads .070 and get another point in CR. Make a nice driver, with good mirage,
