Default Ford Carburetor question

I am starting a rebuild on my 8BA that has been sitting around to long and I have a vintage Edmunds dual intake I plan on using. I also have 2 pair of old ford script carburetors - one pair is marked model 8BA - 94, the other pair is marked ECW - 1 1/16. Should I use the 8BA 94s or does it matter - what is the difference ? I am also thinking I will probably go with a converted Chevy distributor. Thanks for any info.

I believe the ECW carbs would be from around a '56 Ford truck 272 Y Block V8. If you're after a little more air flow, the 1 1/16"carbs would have that, but also have a V-Bead for the air cleaner mointing, and not a flat circle like the passenger car 8BA' 94's.

From what I’ve read, the 8BA was used in 1949 and had been considered to have better flow than previous years. That would be my choice.

Burt, with respect, I’d be interested in the source of your Comment on better flow. From my experience, I’ve seen nothing to support that belief.

You know Alan, I read that somewhere in a blog that listed the different model numbers of 94’s, what years they were used, on cars or trucks etc. and it had a few comments here and there about each. As with anything, some things are based on quantitative testing and some you find are opinions. I thought they talked about an improvement made that year to the fuel spray tubes or something.
