Default 33-34 passenger shock absorbers (Houdaille)

Greetings to all flathead lovers.

My rear right shock absorber broke last week. I've been searching for a replacement with no luck (Macs, C&G).

I know there are some shops that will rebuild if you supply cores but I'd prefer buying a replacement unit.

Please advise.
Cheers
Max (1933 V8 Phaeton - Canada built - Stock)

You were fortunate that you couldn't find a reproduction replacement shock. I've had nothing but trouble with the repops, as the shafts are of low quality and often break. A good original shock or a rebuilt original shock is your best bet. If you buy a rebuilt shock, make sure it's a rebuilt original shock not a rebuilt repop.

The 33 shock was carried over to 34 until Feb. The 34 rear shock is larger has several other differences from 33. The 33 shock arms are different than the post Feb. 34 as well as the shock links. The later 34 rear shock was carried over into 1936.
I suggest you contact :
Bill Wzorek Send him a PM on this web site, he is a rebuilder but he may have a core or a rebuilt original.
