Question Tudor roof replacement question

I thought I had seen and marked this info somewhere, but have yet to find it again.
Is there a recommended staple size to use for stapling the anti-squeak and chicken wire when I replace the roof on my Tudor?
Thanks in advance.

To fasten the chicken wire, I used 3/4 " staples 18 gauge if my brain serves my well.

I think it is Marco's site that has a pretty good tutorial on installing a roof. We generally use tacks to install the decking and the wire.

I tried to use an electric staple gun on my 29 CCPU but found the wood was too tough, and the staples did not sink in all the way. ended up pulling many of them and replacing with tacks.

I've read Marco's article several times and think it's one of the best I've read on the subject, but he states to staple the chicken wire, which is why I asked the original question.
Thanks for the responses.

I have to do mine also. Newly installed wood. What kind of tacks do you use? And do you drill a pilot hole for the tacks and moulding nails?

Super 88 - I just went through a roof installation on my '30 Tudor. the best tip I can give you is to look up www.Floydtool.com. I bought a FASCO F1B 50-16 pneumatic upholstery stapler from them - best 100 bucks I ever spent! I also ordered stainless steel staples 1/2 inch crown, 3/8ths inch long. This tool is also great for installing the headliner.

When I installed my chicken wire, I used a pneumatic stapler that shoots 1/4" wide by 1/2" deep staples. I tried using the original-style staples with a hammer, and it was very tedious, and half the staples would get bent and have to be pulled out. With the air stapler, the installation was a breeze. I used one from HF, like this one:

An air stapler is also great for upholstery work, but you would need a different model, one specifically for 1/2" staples.

Air staplers totally blow away the traditional spring-driven Arrow staplers. They drive the staple more powerfully and quickly, with less risk of impact damage to the work. I can't believe that 5 million Model A had their interiors and upholstery done with tacks and hammers!
