Question Fuel valve question

I did a search about fuel valves and found a lot of posts about rebuilding or alternative valves, but not about installing them. My questions is should some type of sealant be used on the threads that screw into the bottom of the tank? Thanks

It's a pipe thread, if you're talking about the shutoff valve. If the threads are good there is no need for any kind of sealant. Leaks usually occur through the valve itself, not the threads.

Yes, I was referring to the shutoff valve and should have added it is for a 30 Tudor.
Thanks

I always use a sealant. True, that they are tapered pipe threads, but it is not always able to get the threads tight enough not to leak and still have the valve oriented in the proper direction. Probably more so with the late '31 style valve.

And remember, ALWAYS put the sealer on the MALE threaded part!
AND, if you don't know what the MALE part is, you're really in TROUBLE--LOL
Gregg was always confused about that, until Chief explained it to him, with a simple motion, using 3 fingers!
