1932 rear spring spreader
I know this has been discussed, but can some one post the options for a 1932 spring spreader? I tried to modify a bratton's model A and it doesn't have the length. I am thinking of taking the bratton's threaded ends and use them in a straight pipe. I know nothing about metal. What thickness or gauge am I looking for that will be strong enough?
THANKS!

Re: 1932 rear spring spreader
Can you cut and splice the A spreader?

Re: 1932 rear spring spreader
I am not that good with torch and welding and it is not a straight tool, more of a reinforced V.

Re: 1932 rear spring spreader
I'm still using a straight one that my great uncle built for use in his Ford dealership in the early 30's. Made out of heavy wall tube with a 3/4 inside diameter and some 3/4 inch ready bolt with both the tube and ready bolt end flattened.

Re: 1932 rear spring spreader
Jim,
When you come up next weekend borrow mine. I can do without it for a month or so. (maybe for the winter) John Last edited by oldford2; 09-29-2013 at 02:12 PM. |

Just tell them the distance between the spring eyes so you get the right attachments. Works fine. |

Re: 1932 rear spring spreader
I use a port-a-power usually...
Watch those curved springs if you plan to disassemble it!
