Re: Load capacity ?
Yes I agree with you both. I have zero plans to use it at all, I'ts just for show.I have seen videos of Model AA's towing with weaver cranes but I don't recall seeing a model A towing anything.
I'm just trying to figure out how to mount it so it don't fall off during normal driving. I think they look good just not practical. Just my opinion. Dale |

Re: Load capacity ?
I look at it this way, if I have a sedan, and have two of my pals, each weighing 250 pounds or so, and they are in the back seat, isn't that what we are discussing? Wait, I see this frequently!

I just had two buddy's jump in the back of the truck bed today. They are over 200 lb's each. Truck did good for a 8 leaf spring. I believe it will be just fine with a ten leaf. |

Re: Load capacity ?
Brokenvette,
Is the steering light on your pickup? Do you have any handling issues? Jim Brierley, Same question to you.

I would hold out for an AA truck to mount it on which is what it was designed for in the first place. |

Re: Load capacity ?
Those pictures I posted were taken at Hershey 2022. There also was a AA dump truck. I am restoring a oc 31 pickup right now. Talked to the guy who owned it. Trailer queen for shows.

I'm sure there would be many issues when driving it. I believe the crane would have to be put on for shows only. Turn to fast and you might be on your side. brakes would have to be top notch. Front end could be to light. The list goes on. Sounding less realistic the more I think about it. LOL! But I don't give up so easy. |

Re: Load capacity ?
Looks like the AA sure has the capacity to tow a Model A Coupe.

Re: Load capacity ?
I think the above weight of that coupe would put the little trucks front wheels in the air. Engine, trans and front end, a lot of weight.

Re: Load capacity ?
The AA dump truck in Hershey was in Morgantown, PA. for the MARC National Meet. If memory serves me right, it won a Henry Award (highest award possible), so I would say it's going to be a "trailer queen" for a little bit.
I'd be really hesitant to put a crane in a Model A truck even just for looks. If you replaced the bed with the crane, maybe. AA would be your best answer. We need more of those on the road anyways. |
