Re: woodgrainers?
They are opposite of your location and NOT sure you want to send your items that far BUT Honest Charlies did our dash and trim pieces in Tenn.

Re: woodgrainers?
I believe Juliano's in Vernon, CT uses the same process as Honest Charley's.
Ck Hemmings for others who do it the traditional way. Paul in CT |

Re: woodgrainers?
Bob Kennedy used to do it in the L.A. area, but I believe he has passed away. He was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club and if you have a roster perhaps you could call and his wife may know of someone. Also if you have a roster call some of the regional group presidents and they may know of someone.

Re: woodgrainers?
Jonathan at Honest Charlie's has done numerous sets for me. Each set was very accurate, extremely well done, reasonable and prompt.

At this point: This '33 3w has barely recognizable decades-olde woodgrain; maybe orig, but I once read an article that FoMoCo used Dinoc (sp?)woodgrain stencil. And once read that FoMoCo had woodgrainers that 'pulled' parts that were stored off the assembly line. Anybody's guess how the graining was applied. ALSO, Chrysler and GM did their cars. It seems to me that, as an adolescent kid, examining the woodgrain in cars, it was so well done, that in deed was real wood! This woodgrain in this '33 is covered with a hard-hard syrup coating with black particles; the syrup coating must be dissolved w/water; no abrasive. The black particles are the last to go; the water-dissolving them = bare metal. So, this existing woodwhatevergrain is-what-it-is: a mystery to me. (The back of the glovebox door is 'prepped' w/the initial - lighter - sprayed basecoat. Note: The non-abrasive sponge with water is a job for a patient person. The passenger window garnish moulding was a 4-5 hour task. (That moulding weighs 3 pounds!) The passenger-side dash is also free of the hard-hard syrup after hours of water-dissolving sponge work. It actually appears to be acceptable, depending upon persnickety level of the owner. but I have - no desire right now - to 'tackle' the driver-side half of the dash, the driver-side window, the back window. |

Re: woodgrainers?
I sent my 1934 cabriolet parts to Ken Mathews in New York back in 2017 for wood graining.
I was very impressed with his work. From New Zealand to NY, work done and back to NZ was 1 day short of 2 months. (This was using a freight company AND prior to Covid). |

Re: woodgrainers?
Company I bought my stuff from is called grain it technologies, the website is woodgraining.com, the owners name is Evan Westlake. I know there’s a lot of debate about what’s closest to original, or actually original etc. I just happen to like this pattern and this owner so this is what I go with
