Default Another Cam Gear Question

I asked about buying a metal gear a few weeks back, but now I have another question. Is the gear the same for a B as it is for an A? I don’t see a separately listed gear for a B with Snyder’s or Brattons. I know the timing cover on a B is different than an A, and I think the timing pin is in a higher location than the A. If that is the case, how could the gear be the same?

Backstory in case you want to know or if it helps you—I am building a B engine for my ‘30 Cabriolet. I have the proper B block, B crank/rods, B timing cover, B valve cover, etc. I also have the A stuff available but the A block is junk.

Thank you for any help.

The cam gears are the same for a B and and A engine. The B cylinder cover has the timing pin in a different location in order to time the B distributor correctly.

If your buying metal gears, buy them from Dan. There are none better.

Also If your using your A distributor use the A timing cover and if using the B Distributor
use the B timing cover. (Just for clarification.)

I’m away from home, so I can’t check, but does the timing gauge with crank degrees marked on it have enough range to let you time a B dizzy with an A cover?

Dan and Dodge—both very helpful and tells me exactly what I need to do to proceed. Thanks all for the responses!
