Check out the " Model A Ford Paint and Finish Guide " Shows excellent pin stripe details. Shows where the stripes go and the colors of stripes for the various stock Ford colors.

A better reference to use is the Floyd Clymer's "Model A Album", which contains factory fresh individual photos of each body style, 1928-1931. The pin striping in most cases is very clear. Use the "Model A Paint and Finish Guide" as a reference - as recommended by "springerpete" - but rely on these original photos of Model A's just hours old to see how they actually did it in the factory. There are quite a few 1929 roadsters pictured, perhaps half a dozen. At least one photo will answer your question.
Here's the link to buy this 60 year-old booklet cheap:

Marshall I recall your classic statement concerning Floyd's book, where the photos are all in black-and-white....."This 1929 Roadster is resplendent (sp?) in Balsam Green"

Like how can you tell what color it is, in B&W

Ha, ha, ha! Yes, I combed through the two main Clymer booklets on the Model A in about 1999 and critiqued the photo captions mostly. Some of my comments were corrected by specialty body owners, such as the station wagon folks, as well as some other areas that were/are debatable in regards to photo interpretation. Some of old Floyd's assessments were just plain WRONG or at the very least, misleading or SWAGs. Your example of how he could have deduced that particular 1929 Roadster in black-and-white photography was painted Balsam Green was typical. I don't have my comments on disk, rather only printed on paper. Someday I'll have to dig them out of my Arizona moving boxes and see if my comments still hold water. Lots of further research during the intervening two decades may cast doubt on some of them - if recent research is to be believed.
