Grease gun recommendations
Looking for input on a grease gun. My A is the only machine that has grease fittings. Everything else has sealed bearings. I've tried a cheap one and an expensive one(lock-n-load from Tractor Supply), both epic fails reloading and losing prime. Not saying it isn't me. Any recommendations?
Thanks, Hugh |

Re: Grease gun recommendations
I have a good air grease gun with the adaptor for the original fittings but I have found the original tool kit gun works better

Re: Grease gun recommendations
Go to John Deere and buy the one-handed grease gun. Will work wonderfully for the rest of your life, even if its a long one.

Re: Grease gun recommendations
I have the same gun as #2 and #8 and it is a great gun.
FYI. It recently stopped working and would not pump. I took it apart and there is a large plastic disc inside that was stuck to the sides of the cylinder. The disk was pried up and a little grease was applied to the sides of the disc and it has been fine. |

Re: Grease gun recommendations
the easiest, quickest grease gun for stock A fittings is the altemite 6B, the only drawback is it has to be hand filled(you could use a moderm power gun to fill it)
Quick one hand operation, point and push |

Re: Grease gun recommendations
I use a Lincoln battery powered. Works great! Best thing is only takes one hand to operate the gun so you can hold the hose on the fitting with the other. Great investment for your shop!

It's OK, as long as you 2 don't say, "We have the SAME WIFE"

Re: Grease gun recommendations
I have one of those Bad Boys but has a wooden handle. I don't know the number on it but it works great.

Re: Grease gun recommendations
I went with a Lincoln 1134 because of positive comments on Lincoln models here and WWW reviews. Also bought the wall bracket. I will be on the lookout for an older made in the USA or Germany model at garage sales.
Thanks for the replies, Hugh👍 |

I guess you don't have an air compressor set up?

I guess it would have been a good excuse to buy one.

Re: Grease gun recommendations
Thank you Mitch. I designed the 1162 grease gun and use them myself.

Re: Grease gun recommendations
Wow Chris you designed it... Nice job
We have 2 of them here, never had an issue.. The air model sure saves on the hands, especially filling the u-joint. I have found basically all the Lincoln products are first class... Such as the screw jacks Last edited by Mitch//pa; 09-12-2016 at 09:13 AM. |

Re: Grease gun recommendations
Mitch, we don't make the jacks anymore. They sold that product line off a long time ago. I will pass along your thoughts on the grease gun to the product manager. I am sure he will appreciate it. I assume by now that you have found that you can feather the trigger to control the speed of the gun. It was intentionally designed that way. It was also designed to prime much better than the one it replaced.
I have two. One with chassis grease and the other with wheel bearing grease. About all they need is an occasional cleaning of the check valve and they are good to go. Chris
