Has anyone tried using the repo model a open car door stikers?

Yes. On my roadster the doors are very poor so they required a little grinding on the catch to get it to latch easily. Not sure if you would have to do that on a properly restored door.

I had to grind as well on my 31 Roadster

Same here - but actually mine the lower two screw holes were skewed so I had to drill them open a little more in order to prevent the assembly from shifting and affecting the operation of the door handles(excessive friction making them stick). Other than that, they did function great, and finally allowed the lock on the drivers side to operate (it was stuck open and would not lock).


I included a picture so you could see. I had others with the old and new for comparison, but must've deleted them at one point.

Whoa guys. Not enough info here for us newbies to learn from. My catches/latches are worn. That's missing material already. What exactly are you grinding? Grinding with what? On the car or off? New parts or old?

Havin' trouble myself with doors that come open partially or occasionally all the way. Usually the car has been in a twist such as a driveway. Almost lost my date at a corner once! When I get'em tight, they still rattle. Strikers and rubber blocks top and bottom are new, but savin' my pennies for the parts inside the doors.

Specifics as to what you're grinding on and pictures would help explain any successes you've had.

The OP was talking about open car door strikers. That looks like a closed car striker to me. The strikers originally installed on our open Model As were terrible so I have converted to the reproductions now sold by the vendors. I found the sliding latch piece was made from very poor die cast material and didn't last long so I made new ones from steel. No more doors flying open at the most inconvenient time (is there a convenient time?).

i bought aftermarket strikers for a 30 roadster i redid tried using them and gave up tossed them
welded and reshaped the old ones to work as they should
