I have what appears to be a Model "A" engine but on the head (on top) is the marking "B-1". Other heads I have seen do not have this marking. I'm curious as to what I have. Any ideas?

A head marked "B" is supposed to indicate the "Police" type head, but I'm not sure about "B-1."

Police heads, has a capital B cast with the head about 1" tall. As to the -1, I don't know what that means. Maybe someone else will know. BTY a Police Head had a compression ratio of 5.2 to 1.

MMM If memory serves me you have a Brumfield head.

T Bob, a brumfield head will have a B-F marked on it.
Old newbie, is the marking B-1 or B-F? Look carefully.

Tried to upload two photos but both uploads failed. Had trouble with this Saturday also, not sure why. If the head ever had an "F" on it, it is now badly worn. Sure looks like a "1" to me. Maybe we'll never know.
