Default ENM at Chantilly VA

We finished up a very successful day one of the 2017 Eastern National Meet of the eV-8 club with a grand welcome party. Old friends/new friends/lovers of eV-8's gather at the Westfield's in Chantilly, VA for a fun social ... Did I mention good food and live music and singing?? Lots of eV-8s about and many more due out tomorrow. The Raffle room is set up the best I have ever scene with over 100 items form all genres selected to catch everyone's fancy. Litterer, car models, car parts, fancy jewelry, FORDITE necklace, clothing, a 'one of a kind" MTH O gauge flat car with two 32 fords aboard. Come on out and be with us.

I grabbed a goodie from the Flea market the likes of which I have never seen before. It is a windshield wiper wiping pressure indicator.
You stick this triangular device under the wiper and read on the non-powered dial the pressure of the wiper on the glass!!!

So if I read 18 ounces is that a good pressure for a '39 Ford pickup? Nick Arrington thinks this is a true "snake oil machine"

Hi Everyone. We're just back from the welcome party. Thanks to all the Northern VA Regional Group members who've worked so hard to put together this event. We've seen soo many of our great V8 friends over these last couple of days.

Many folks will be going to the Udvar-Hazy Center tomorrow. Four of us went there today and had a grand time! The shuttle is rather impressive. We also watched a pretty good Imax movie on Aircraft Carriers.

Meeting people and reuniting with old friends. Having a ball. Sun is rising so I'm headed out.

Having a super time at Chantilly.
Clem, I saw a guy with a triangular windshield wiper pressure gauge talking to Nick, so I'm thinking now that must have been you.

Here is the skinny on the wiper pressure tester:
http://www.citybythelake.org/forums/...aded&pid=36365

These guys made the tester. Now gone
They used the tester to sell their ANCO wipers!!!

The standard is one ounce of pressure per inch of wiper blade length. My 39 peekup flunked : 5 inch wiper and 4 ounces of pressure.

Tours went out today to the Udvar- Hazy Museum. I'm sure all had a good time.

I got my truck to the display area next to the fleas. Met Seth there. Folks love my truck and all the silliness about it. Tomorrow is the concourse. all business. I look forward to seeing some really fine eV-8s.

Tomorrow night we tour to the Cross' farm for a visit and music and BBQ.

You ask...

The engine is a Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp. The house is Oak Hill mansion, President James Monroe's home.

Jeff, John, Glenn, Seth, Alex, Frank and others - sure had fun spending some time with you at the meet. Looking forward to Dearborn. Redneck, better cut your grass - good to see that old junker again.

The old Merc got us safely home at 8:04 pm CDT after 728ish miles of breezy comfort. Got up to 96 degrees during the day, but we handled it.

I think the real reason is that JM got all the attention from the mascot at Chick-fil-a...

LOL....that was funny!! That was almost as much fun as getting all the hugs from the girls at Hooters when we attended the Springfield, IL meet in 2014.

John, This tendency seems to follow you to national meets. Do we need to check surveillance tapes at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa? Or Harrah's in Tahoe?

Ken it was a great meet and good seeing you and Carolyn again. We had a blast with all of you. These meets are a lot of fun. For those of you who are club members and have not participated in a national meet, sign up and attend. Participate, help judge or whatever, get involved and there is never a dull moment. For those of you that are not club members and enjoy driving and showing off your V8, sign up. There are great times and good company waiting for you at the V8 meets. Next year I want to bring my dad along, perhaps even my wife Nicole (if she's good). I'm already looking forwar to Dearborn.

Cecil,

If it can make it to California, it can make it to Michigan by lunch. Did you take a registration form?
