My A won't run with my wife in it???
Is it me, or is it my A? The other day I took her out for a short 12 or so mile drive. Mainly because I knew that I would be taking the Misses to a cruise night, and I wanted to make sure that everything was working just right. In the past, I've found that she seems to have something against my wife. I think she feels the negative vibes that my wife puts out. It never fails. Anyway, On the 12 or so mile test drive that I took, everything ran great. She started right up, she ran great, she didn't stall, she didn't make any unexpected noises, no violent shaking going on. Great, I'll let the wife know that everything checked out and we'll be ready to go. Now, a month or so ago I did have a problem with the gas cap not venting the tank. So I repaired the cap (So I thought.) and went on 3 or 4 drives, no problems! GREAT! Now it's time to pack up the car and the wife and off we go. But don't you know, and I bet some of you have already guessed, I don't get 2 miles away when all of a sudden she runs out of gas, with a full tank. Luckily I kept my spare cap in the car and off we went. Is there anyway My Town sedan knows that my wife is in there? Is there some sort of Model A ritual that can be done that will bring these two beauties together and live in harmony? Does anyone else out there have an A and wife that just aren't getting along, that could pass along some insight as to what's going on here? Tensions are high, and it looks like I'll be driving alone if something isn't done soon. Should I get rid of her for something better, with less miles maybe? I would hate to get rid of her, as I've had her for sooo many years. She still looks great, has plenty of get up and go, runs strong, and cooks one hell of a meal. Any help would surely be appreciated.

Maybe get wife more involved in the hobby, when the car stalls have her push.

I know how you feel. Some years ago we ventured off on a short trip after my wife got her courage up(fear of breaking down) and we didn't get more than a block from the house when a broken tooth from the ring gear got caught in the pinion. Kabang!, then "tunk, tunk, tunk" and we limped back home. Took some time to get her to take a ride again. They've grown to like each other again fortunately, bear with it.

Yeah some cars get the wifeittis bug and do act up when they feel threatend by another female! You see all cars are of the female gender so I believe they feel the need to vie for our attention! Whenever we go to a far aweigh meet my wife insists on following with a modern using the excuse that she needs more room for luggage, purchases etc! Now any pickup AA or woody is a male and is happy to show off for that purity little gal that you stood by for so long... over time your car [ms whatever] will be more confident and they will get along ... just try and give equal attention to each and those meals will keep coming.....

Simply get another A dedicated expressly for the wife's use. Maybe an AA with a wrecker bed. |

Get another wife !
If you think that owning a Model A is expensive, it is nothing compared to an ex-wife. The VOE |

Re: My A won't run with my wife in it???
I got a '38 Ford pickup for my wife. Pretty good trade huh. OK it's old and not too funny anymore but it's the best I can do on short notice.

Re: My A won't run with my wife in it???
This may sound weird but have her go in the garage and just sit and talk to the model A. After awhile your wife will be telling you to get off the couch and take her for a ride. then next she will be telling you that she has found a model A that she wants to buy for herself and wants you to help her check it out. It could happen doesn't hurt to try
