Re: Fuel with ethanol
In Kansas a lot of stations sell both ethanol and ethanol-free fuel. Lately (past 6 months) I have noticed a lot more ethanol-free sources. The way it is set up here, one hose is used for the normal three grades of fuel and a separate hose is used for the ethanol-free fuel. I like if for the lawn tractor and other yard equipment not built for ethanol fuel.

Re: Fuel with ethanol
Looks like gas is cheaper close to cornfields, than oil refineries.
$4.17 a gallon at mobil in Long beach, CA. 3 or 4 refineries within 50 miles. Bruce

Re: Fuel with ethanol
Don't know about corn fields (there are a few around here, but not many) but wheat fields yes. Years ago, during my high school years, there were a lot of refineries near by and fuel was CHEAP! But they have all been closed and it is trucked in out of state now, so much higher priced.

Re: Fuel with ethanol
I'd like to know where Paul2748 gets his carburetor and fuel pump parts that are resistant to ethanol ? I've looked around and have not found any. Please let us in on where to get ethanol resistant parts

BP 93 Octane is supposed to be pure gasoline. If in doubt do a search here and try the home test on a batch of local gasoline for yourself. It works. |

Re: Fuel with ethanol
Just fueled the roadster up with premium unleaded $4.09 gal @ Cenex in Oregon. I have used racing fuel in the(now sold) vette when I was near a racetrack in Az. Smiths grocery store sold it.

Re: Fuel with ethanol
The old Ford (1948) runs on the stuff at the pump 10* or who knows how much, Canada and the US, done so for 5 years about 10,000 miles, still has the original pump in carb, a blue rubber type had a few different bowls (warped) but still same pump. I know the chain saw and string trimmer don't like but the Briggs don't seem to mind. I always buy no name type fuel as cost is better do so even on the road. Taking a big chance posting this car will likely quite tomorrow!!! Laurie

Re: Fuel with ethanol
I am lucky in that there is a station about 2 miles from my house that sells non ethanol gas. The station is run by the Squaxin Indian Tribe, but you can get non e gas that is not part of an Indian reservation in this state.

Re: Fuel with ethanol
So you pay as much for no-ethanol 87-octane Regular as for 93-octane E-10?? Someone is making big money there!
On a recent drive from Albuquerque to Phoenix, I drove by three refineries near Gallup. Gas was the same 100 yards from the refinery as 75 miles away at a small station, and more than it is in Albuquerque, 200 miles away. Maybe it was "fresher" gas?! LOL

Re: Fuel with ethanol
IMHO, I feel that now is the time that we as a nation, stand up and say no more of this ethanol fuel garbage!!
It ruins engine parts if left in contact too long as well as artificially messes with our agricultural industry. |

Re: Fuel with ethanol
We are lucky here in Qld Australia,we Don't have the ethanol at most pumps, some do have what is called E10,but all have 91 and 98 octane, the 33 runs like a rocket on the 91'
At the moment we are away in the 33 and caravan for the long weekend,,just cooked diner half way between springsure and Moura. stopping at a rest spot for the night. The sunset is something to see, kangaroos in the paddock next to us. This weekend have travelled about 620 miles. Lawrie |
