Default 1951 bellhousing original color

Does anyone know what the original color of the passenger car bellhousing was? Mine appears to be black but the engine was also painted a non-stock color so it may have been repainted. Thanks!! Ken

When I pulled the original engine out of my '51, the bellhousing was the same bronze as the engine. I think I have a spare I can take a picture of if you want to see it./

Thanks, I found a few photos of original cars online done the same way, so bronze it is. Good thing I bought 4 cans... I'm looking forward to hitting the road with the rebuilt engine shown in the second photo above.
