Default 3 wire speaker, 3rd wire?

Anyone know what the 3rd wire is for on the early speakers? I don't have a wiring diagram.

It needed to be re-coned, the speaker guy took it apart and does not know how to put it back together.

I did find my old posting, left wire from radio, center wire ground, right wire gets power from the radio. Anyone have one they want to sell?

A lot of the early radio speakers had electromagnets on the cone coil since iron magnets didn't hold magnetic gauss very well. Rare earth type magnets didn't show up till after WWII and it took a while before they were widely used.
