Default 51 226/6cyl Rear End Gear Ratio

Hi All,
Would anyone know the rear end gear ratio of a 1951 Ford H226, 6 cyl in a Business Coupe.
Considering an overdrive for highway driving.

Thanks, Steve

Steve,

The standard rear ratio in a '51 was 3.73 to 1. Overdrive was 4.10 to 1. Fordomatic was 3.31 to 1.

An overdrive with a 3.73 to 1 standard rear is a great combination.

Ken

Thanks Ken,
My sedan is actually a 50 but I purchased a low mileage 51-226 engine and complete drive train including rear end. Runs great but thinking an overdrive would make it a better car on the highway.

Thanks, Steve
