Splash Shields

Good evening,

All information that I've found indicates that my coupe is an early '30, and originally had the splash shields spot welded to the running boards. They are now separate pieces, and the vertical edge of the splash shield is rough and irregular like someone used a torch to cut it free from the board. My guess is that the running boards were replaced by a previous owner, but not the splash shields.

My plan is to replace both the shield and board with a correct repro part. Is this the best solution? Should I consider welding the original shields to new boards, to avoid the risk of poor fitting repro shields? Is there a better way to go about this job?

Lastly - and I know that this issue has come up many times but a search didn't help me - what supplier is most likely to have the best fitting part?

Mike, I think it is more about your goals. The repro boards & aprons are suitable for use in restoration of all but fine-point cars.

I;ve been waiting about 5 months now for a set of repo nose shields (for my 1930) to become available from the suppliers. If anybody has an original set in good condition, please let me know.

The "early" 1930 running boards and aprons were made in one piece, not spot welded together. They have not been reproduced. Gar Williams
