Default Feedback on by pass spin on oil filter

These have been on the market awhile, not many reviews. Seems simple and convenient. There aren’t install instructions or diagrams, but it looks like a simple swap of the canister.
Anyone using this? Or feedback?

This is just my very bias opinion.
If you want to convert to a spin-on bypass filter, why not use a better filter?
The stock filter is 32 micron. The filter from Macs is 20 micron. The filter from Amsoil is 2 micron.
I would make my own bracket and use the 2 micron filter. You can get just the filterhead from Amsoil or me and make your own plumbing or buy their kit and use theirs.

Yes, the Amsoil by-pass conversion is what I did. Makes more sense than 20 micron filter.
And fits inside an original canister.

I can't see the filter number on the "macs ", but a correct number for a fram spin on bypass filter would be "PB50", as used on 60s ramblers and Lincoln welder with continental engine, it has built in orfice

That is really cool. Besides mounting, are there any other changes to the oil lines? ItÂ’s plug and play?
Did you adapt the original bracket to the Amsoil kit? Could I trouble you for the part number?

Makes good sense. Do you sell the kit? $?

There is not any "kit" made specifically for a flathead Ford.
Amsoil sells a universal adapter that has the correct bypass restrictor built in.

See here----
https://www.amsoil.com/p/universal-s...K21-EA/zo=5931

The original canister mount can be modified to accept the adapter in any way that you see fit.
There are no 'special' lines used to connect the system, just standard steel tube and any fittings that will make the system conform.
You will have to fabricate any components needed to complete the installation.

Looks good to me - I'd not hesitate to use one.

51 Merc, thanks for the info. I spent a little time looking for the flathead kit, was thinking it was the universal kit. Thanks for confirming.

I find it interesting that lately there seems to be lots of effort to convert the old flathead bypass system to use spin on filters while the car makers converted back to cartridges in canister filters.

Ironic isn't it? I wouldn't use the filter in the original post just because it's so damn ugly.
