Check out the various Blueing compounds available at your local gun / sports shop.

Thanks , I may have to do that. I was looking for the process called hot blueing that was the original finish on early spark plugs. It does hold up better than the cold process as I am told. I had someone in Grand Rapids Mi. some time back but he has passed away. Norm

There are gun shops that still do hot blueing, but it cost considerably more than cold blueing. I stripped the rust off my Remington Model 41 Targetmaster and used G-96 cold blueing. It did a very nice job. I rubbed it down with ATF as soon as I rinsed off the blueing. I used my Milwaukee heat gun to preheat the gun parts before I applied the blueing.

I, also, have a Remington Model 41 Targetmaster, from the '30's. In the mid 50's, I stripped it down, polished ALL the parts & blued it myself, in a HOT Commercial Blueing tank & it still looks NEW!

cold bluing will give a black appearance i like it on the guns i have done but its not blue. brownells sells hot blueing salts. but only in large expensive jugs. like 150 dollars. since plugs are small it would be an easy project. do it outside because of fumes. but since they are small and your not going for presentation gun quality blue. i would think you could send it out and have them hot blued for a pretty reasonable
price.

I did the cold bluing on mine turned out very well. Make sure all rust is removed first if you have any.

Thanks for everyone's advice. Does anyone know a gunsmith in Michigan or near by that does hot blueing?

I've done a lot of Blueing, REMEMBER, It's REALLY HOT, NOXIOUS FUMES, & if you get the salts on your skin, it BURNS & leaves like a BIRTHMARK, that lasts & lasts!

Have you tried a Google search for "hot gun blueing" in your area?

There are two different processes, blueing and black oxide. Contact any machine shop to get black oxide done, it's very cheap.
