Help! Body Style 1929 Fordor-please?

My hubby and I have a car that his grandfather bought new in 1929 and this summer the old family barn in which it was stored has now been taken down. Our 1929 Ford Model A is now sitting in the field and we need to sell or donate it before the weather takes more of a toll.

I don't know where to begin as far as identifying the body style so I know how to best describe it accurately. Please anyone have insight from picture as to the body style number/letter I would be so appreciative. I do know it is a Briggs motor. It is located in Indiana. Thank you anyone in advance for any insight.

It is either a 170-A (Standard Fordor Sedan--2-Window) or 170-B Standard Fordor Sedan (Briggs).

Have you consider having it fixed or making it a family project? I think it would be neat to keep it in the family. How many people would be able to say this 1929 car has been in the family when bought new. Just my 2 cents

If you wish to donate it how about the Model A Ford Foundation? There can't be that many original 'Blindbacks' left in the world. I do like the idea of keeping it in the family though and that would get my vote first and donation second.

Thank you everyone for all the wonderful suggestions and now more confused than before! I do have some more pictures that I finally got up online in-between fall house chores inside and out! Maybe that will help in identify the body style. I do know it has a dome light in the way back?

Based on the style of the fabric roof shown in your flickr photos, I'm going with Steve that it's a 170-B

Definitely look at the pictures, looks to possibly be original paint, maybe? I'm unsure of color combos on that one, but could be. I agree anyone in the family interested?

I believe it is a 1929 60C Fordor, steel back Sedan. The 60A & 60B were the fabric back jobs, all made by Briggs.
If this car is not saved or at least protected from the elements, it will be a great shame.

Off the top of my head I'm not sure about the letter and number but I am sure that it is a Briggs body . The door upper reveals are flat. The Murray bodys had arched upper window reveals. Also the rear interior light indicates Briggs . If the wood is good it is a desirable model .

According to the George Washington chapter the 170-A was a 1930 car made only 3 months.

If it were a 60-C the top comes over to the drip rail so there would be a line for the tacks just behind the rear door.

Mike, I think you are spot on there . There is the difference of the top areas between the 60C & the larger steel back 170A which was introduced along with the 3W Fordors.
That car certainly now looks to be a 170A Briggs. The 170B was the early 1930 version.
All 2 window Fordors were Briggs & Murray also began supplying Ford with the 3W Fordors from early 1929.
Probably the 60c & 170A were both available during 1929 until the 60C ran out.

Correct you are. When Steve first suggested either 170-A or 170-B, I incorrectly correlated in my mind that "A" was for Murray and "B" was for Briggs as in the 155 models. And as others have since noted, the 170-B wasn't a 1929 model.
