Question Oil Bypass Oil Canister leaking a lot @ boss?

Significant oil leak where boss meets canister cylinder? Anybody ever had this issue? Definitely leaking there not at the fitting interface. Thinking of cleaning very good then black RTV?: Anybody ever had this issue?

I'd clean it good and silver solder. No way would I trust RTV to hold the pressure.
I picture a scenario where you're cruising down the highway and it lets go. Not a chance I'd take.

Emphasize SILVER solder, not regular solder. Still, I'd not even trust that. Get another canister, not worth the risk.

Are you positive the restricter is in the inlet? And to two outlet holes in the return standing tube are clean and open?

J what are you thinking, the leak is definitely coming from the mating surface of the boss & the canister?

Ya know, the most reasonable advice thus far is post #4. For what these things sell for, just get another one.

I'm with Kube (and others), I would look for another one vs attempting a repair.

Planning on it. Does anyone make a decent new aftermarket one?

even if the boss is cracked any good welder could replace it definatly would not be relying on any rtv or similar will need to be removed and cleaned and inspected rare but have seen similar bosses split by being overtightened

For what it's worth. I have an excellent 1940 oil filter canister like you show in the picture. $40.00 plus the ride. Trying to sell off all my stash due to advanced age.
