What is the advantage of this conversion??

If your going to bolt on a 6v alt, why not go 12v.....
I went 12 because I had a good alt off a Jeep cherokee on the shelf (get at any part store, did use the small diameter Snyder pulley) and with my King Bee lights (7" sealed beam) I needed to go 12v to be able to see at night. 90% of the time I get to drive my coupe is either early morning on the way to work or late at night on the way home... I have to have good light to see and be seen. As a plus my alt, bulbs, coil and battery are available at any parts store now.
Since I didn't go one wire my A runs 14.5 volts at idle, I always charge. I have never understood the one wire thing as you only need 3 to have it work properly anyway, it isn't that hard.
