"A" generous offer for anyone who......
I am in the process of writing two books, Part 1 on Model A Passenger car production and Part 2 on Model A Commercial and Model AA Truck production. They are focasing on Ford's Assembly Record Type's production figures and then some.
So here is my offer for anyone who can come up with the following information. I will give Part 1 and Part 2 to the first person or persons, who can supply me the following: I am in need of information concerning the following Assembly Plants. What I need are newspaper clippings or copies of telling when in 1928 the following plants opened for Model A/AA production and those first Model A's came off the line...NOT MODEL T PRODUCTION! San Francisco, CA (01/04/28)???????? Chicago, IL (02/06/28)????????? Norfolk, VA (02/21/28)????????? Milwaukee, WI (06/23/28)????????? St. Louis, MO (Between March and April 1928)?? Buffalo, NY (Between March and June 1928)?? Columbus, OH (Between May and October 1928)?? Cincinnati, OH (Between May and October 1928)?? Charlotte, NC (Between May and October 1928)?? Los Angles, CA (Between May and October 1928)?? Indianapolis, IN (Good question on this one...The Indy plant was NEVER mentioned within the Ford News about it's opening YET all the other Ford Assembly Plants around the USA and world were noted. Why that was I have no idea yet the Indy Service Letters start out in January 1928 so who knows for sure). This will require some research on your part if you see fit to do so. OR you can give your kids or grandkids a project. If there is any information within these 1928 newspapers what-so-ever on any of these Ford assembly plants, the information will be in the most popular 1928 newspapers of the time within the particular city mentioned. Foriegn and Canadian plants will also be included. Good luck. Pluck Last edited by Steve Plucker; 02-24-2016 at 08:52 AM. |

Crowd sourcing - good idea!
I hope your book will be available as an e-book I can put on my iPad pro. If so I'll buy one! |

This info strays a little from your original question, but still may be of some interest. I have only listed the hard dates for Model A production that Lorin Sorensen published in "The Ford Factory".
Buffalo, NY Sept. 8, 1931 Chester, PA March 28, 1928 Los Angeles, CA Shut down in late 1929, followed by Long Beach introduction. Long Beach, CA April 21, 1930 Milwaukee, WI June 23, 1928 Richmond,CA Aug. 1, 1931

Although I have not yet found a newspaper, this article seems to indicate the start of Model A construction at the Cleveland plant was 11/1/1927.
