OEM 1930-50's Ford gas tanking sending units are very hard to find, including used ones.
They were made by King Sealy and DO NOT operate on the Ohms law Principle. Therefore, aftermarket repros don't work well. If you have your old unit you may be able to repair it by carefully removing the top and cleaning the points. Or it might be a simple fix like replacing a cracked float or broken float arm. Patiently Read Everything you see here about gas tank sending units to give you a great understanding.

I have suffered with this for many years. Does nobody make a reproduction that works like the KS? Seems there'd be a ready market.

Ya' know, this should be a piece of cake for somebody who really understands electronics. There should be a chip out there that could be programmed to simulate the voltage pulses from the original K-S unit.

Who says it has to have points to work right? I'll talk partner on the condenser project about this. No promises, though.

Gee, tubman, you are correct, I think. There must be a way to make a chipped unit that will perform, like the original KS unit and also have it work with the stock gauge.

I have always wondered what function the little carbon looking resistor inside the KS unit serves.
