Early 1930 Deluxe Roadster Wiper Install
I could use a few photos showing the vacumm motor and an installed photo
on the windshield. I have all the plumbing done, I'm thinking I may have the wrong motor for an open roadster car since the motor ears are not cooperating for mounting. It looks like the shaft should go through the frame (there is a hole) however, the "correct" mtg. brackets I have are not working. Thanks for any photos of this installation. Michael

The 1930 deluxe roadster didn't come out until I think August. The wiper shaft should go over the top of the windshield. Can you post some pictures of what you have?

yes - I have installed the shaft over the top of the windshield with the brackets in your photo. I'm fairly confident I have the right motor. I will take photos of my
installation and load them up tonight. Thank you for your kind help. Michael

Re: Early 1930 Deluxe Roadster Wiper Install
I took this pic in Hershey for the same reason, my roadster is an early 30 Standard but I took a few pics as I am in need of a wiper motor as well. This example, I believe is a Deluxe car but cannot recall if it was a '30 or '31.
FWIW I have also heard the little mounting "arm" that the ears tie to is available in two lengths, but I do not know enough about these yet to know why.

Steve - thank you for your time to send me exactly the photo I needed, I clearly see my installation mistake now.
When you visit Oregon, the meal is on me! Michael

Re: Early 1930 Deluxe Roadster Wiper Install
I don't know a lot about Roadster details, but that mounting looks like an AFTERTHOUGHT, like, "We FORGOT to add a wiper"???

Re: Early 1930 Deluxe Roadster Wiper Install
Gentlemen: I am putting together a Late 1931 Standard Roadster, and am also seeking mounting information for the Trico wiper. The Hershey picture makes me wonder two things - First off, how does the top go down over this?? Secondly, what is the hole through the windshield frame for?? If someone with a correctly mounted wiper (either for the Standard or Deluxe models), could take a picture, that would be an extreme help for all of us here. Thank All of You.

I will try to get a pic tonight... mine appears to be correctly mounted, and the top clears without issues.

Re: Early 1930 Deluxe Roadster Wiper Install
I think I'm interpreting the Judging Standards that on an early 1930 deluxe roadster as the wiper motor shaft being over the outside top of the windshield frame. Why the hole in the frame? A guess, possibly they were all prefabbed with a hole for the purpose of different models on the assembly line. I mounted mine a few nights ago and it fits perfectly with no issues with the top.
