Paint
Anyone know of an affordable body shop where I can get my '31 Tudor painted in the greater Philadelphia area?
Thank you in advance, Mike 1931 Etling's Antique Auto

Re: Paint
I guess much of this is how do you define "affordable"?
If you are looking for 'cheap' paint work, maybe stop at a few Buy-Here/Pay-Here car dealerships and ask them for recommendations on a cheap paint shop. If you are looking for slightly better quality, then look for a MAACO or Earl Scheib type shops. The reason why paint work seems so expensive is there is a lot of work that goes into producing a quality paint job. Labor is an expensive commodity. If you are willing to accept work that has less labor involved, it can make it much more affordable. The trade-off is the work may look much less desirable too. . |

Re: Paint
I'm with Brent all the way on this one.
On my first Model A, a Tudor, I asked around for an 'inexpensive' paint job, and was guided to avery nice local gentleman that gave me a price of $1800. It turned into a $2400 paint job (that I agreed to). Less than a year later I was experiencing the same 'bubbling', cracking and chipping that I had in the first place. Subsequent restoration work has taught me the need for proper PREPARATION of the sheet metal prior to being painted. We are on the fourth year of a paint job that Brent Terry did for my wifes pick up and there are NO issues to date. He has a very capable man named Jimmy Bunton that is very knowledgeable and experienced with Model A's. Just a thought!
