Default Re: So Done with Winter

During WW2, my uncle spent the first part of the war in Greenland (For what? I don't know) He was Signal Corps. He said the winters weren't much worse than NJ, Just longer! The worst thing about Greenland was the mosquitos. He loved talking about Greenland, He wouldn't talk much about the war after they shipped him to England and D-day. Once or twice he did, and it wasn't good so we left the subject alone. He had been trained as a line man and he worked in "Com Z" and I gather that's where he got two purple hearts.
He's gone now, I sure wish he was still here. He had PTSD in spades! Sometimes he would just shake for a couple of minutes. I read some of his letters written on a German typewriter and he would write about the weather or some such diversionary subject, but nothing about the war and they were written in late 45. I'm rambling, better stop now!
