35-37 pickup seat
Finally have my pickup back from the upholsterer and have been driving the snot out of it. I couldn’t stand the original seat. Thought I’d share photos of the new seat. The bottom sits 2.5” lower and the back is 1.75” further back, and uses foam instead of springs. Not 100% original looking but my back is thanking me.

Re: 35-37 pickup seat
That is a good looking truck! Do you have any in progress pictures that would show the framework supporting the foam?

Re: 35-37 pickup seat
That was a different one I built last year that was essentially identical to this truck. This one has a 4” motor with stock aluminum canadian heads and stock intake, Lincoln brakes and a 3.25 gear. I’ve put around 4800 miles on this one since I finished it in 2021

Re: 35-37 pickup seat
Michael,
That truck seat dimension adjustment reminds me a lot of mine. The extra few inches sure helps in the rather small-ish cabs on these trucks. It looks like a comfortable ride! I love the truck! I see why your driving it a lot! Thanks for sharing! Regards, Chris

Re: 35-37 pickup seat
Lawson yes this was Jerry’s old truck. I took about a year of working on it only saturdays and I restored it completely doing everything from my home garage including the paint. The seat is the now the only task I couldn’t complete myself. Attached is a couple photos of the process. Everything has been rebuilt or replaced. It is painted Audi Nardo grey which is a close match to the color Jerry invisioned for it.

Re: 35-37 pickup seat
Michael, How are the rear shocks mounted and what front and rear shocks did you use? Thanks, I can’t see how the bottom of the rear shock attaches in the picture.

For the BOTTOM, REARS, most folks run a bracket similar to these which mimic 1947 & '48 passenger car rears. They attach at backing plate bolts. Coop |

Re: 35-37 pickup seat
A company called Pure Hotrods in Illinois makes those lower brackets. I used them on a '40 coupe and they work great.

Re: 35-37 pickup seat
Very nice MD.
Are you going to have him make a few extra sets to sell? BTW if anyone is interested the third seat from a Suburban has a similar foam seat on a tubular frame (folds forward ) giving more leg room.

Re: 35-37 pickup seat
Concerning the rear shock mounts, I don't see how the pure hot rods kit or the 47/48 parts can work with the 36 radius rods in the way. Art
