Any chance there is a star in front of the 18 and not a "B?. Ford used stars at each end of the serial number.

The letter b tells that the car orginally had a four cylinder engine and inclusive parts. I am looking for a good model 40 v8 car but they cost alot.

All assembly locations were supposed to stamp the frame number following a star and 18 >Some locations did not stamp as instructed .Some assembly plants stamped only the star
,.Some were stamped with 40 in place of 18. Lee34

Upon looking with a mag glass I see,

star B18 star (Then my 6 numbers) star

What do I have? I got the Tudor with a V8, but then it could have had a four cyl engine before some one decided a V8 would go faster quicker, hummmmmmmmmm!

A 34 4 cyl would have a star B then a SEVEN digit serial # starting with a 5 and followed by another star . Normal US 34 V-8's would have star 18 dash six digits star . Like stated above this can be messed up a bit = I have a 33 that has the 18 on the tranny & not on the frame . I also have a 33 that has 40 instead of 18 on the frame & of course some that have the normal star 18 dash 6 digits star . On yours the B doesn't make sense & also the star between 18 & the six digit sequence # should be a dash . Did this car happen to be RHD at some time ?
