Default Factory fitted heater?

According to latest newsletter from Hagerty the 1929 Model A was the first car to offer the option of a factory fitted heater. Is that true?

If it is it’s the first I’ve heard it and I have three 1929 Model A Fords and a 29 Chevrolet.

I vaguely remember some sort of vents that you could open and close under the floorboards of our 28 Tudor when I restored it back in the '80's. I took it all out because it was a hopeless mess. Didn't know if that was original or not.

Should it not be in the JS?

This was left under the rear floorboard of our Tudor. Heater? On the far side there is an opening to attach a hose or steel flex line? Maybe went to the muffler? It's just a vestige from long ago.

Yes. That's right. What I have on my car is NOT original. Speaking of the JS, on page 16-4 under Accessories, it says that Ford did sell a heater manifold, A-18455, that attached to the stock exhaust manifold. It required that a hole be cut (yikes!) in the fire wall.

The service bulletins show a tin manifold cover for heater but not factory installed it would have been dealer installed
