Default 1953 Ford big truck radiator.

I have a truck radiator for my test stand that came out of 1953 Ford 6 wheel dump truck. I don't know if they called them F- 500's or what then. What I am looking for is the correct radiator cap to fit it.

It has brass tag on it that says TCAC-A1, P-MO, 53 -2. Is this a Ford part number, Modine or something else. If it's Ford, anyone have a aftermarket part number for that cap. Ray Helger in RI has tons of old stock caps, but we can't find a part # listing in any of his old catalogs. Thank you Fordbarners.

Try a 1T 8100A, 4 pound cap. that is the only number my ford catalog shows ,also the group illustration shows a sleeve that sits underneath the cap for a 239 engine , the 279 and 217 group illustration does not show the tube beneath the cap.

Thank you Fordestes. Is that a Ford number for the cap ? If so is there a cross to a Stant or Gates or some other aftermarket cap ?

That number is from the ford truck parts/service manual. I would think N.A.P.A could cross reference the number or have their own listing for a 4 pound cap, I will check my inventory to see if I have a 4 pound Thermocap if you are interested. also the listing for a 239 v-8 shows a tube sitting under the cap ,I would suspect the tube is to regulate the coolant level from being over fill. I don't have a number for the tube sitting below the cap, I am wondering if the tube somehow also creates a seat for the cap to seal against ? someone here can probably clarify that .

Hi Fordestes. Here is picture of the radiator neck & cap seat. Probably answer our question about the tube sitting under the cap. Thank you, Russ

Looks like the big cap to me. Stant (Everseal) R-7 is the 4# part number.
