Coker often brings out "new" styles. Are you talking about the Excelsior Stahl Sport Radials? If so I'm looking forward to actual user comments too.

I put a set of Coker Classic 600X16 radials on our '39 CS two years ago and I really like the way the car rides, no more bias ply boogie on the highway

I've had Coker 15" wide whites on my 39 for over 15 years now. No problems.

Iv'e had Cokers on my 40 and found that they are fine for a car that is driven seldomly, not for extended driving, and certainly not at high speed.I had a relativly new w.w.(only one of the two new rears) wear out immediatly. The replacement policy was not a good deal for me.The smaller front w.w.s were very difficult to balance and wore much faster than i had hoped.(punctuated by a complete circumference separation) at speed. The tire installer said that coker uses the dies that are replaced by the majors.I tried Diamondbacks (not cheap!) but a beautiful product and take the abuse I give them by every day use.I hate to bad mouth anyone's product but I doubt that anyone has money to waste anymore! .Good luck,Dan

I put on a set of Dimondbbacks last yr and have driven a few thousand mi. and they are like night and day compared to bias ply. They are a quality product made with new molds by various manufacturers. Afriend just put a set of Coker radials on his 37 coup and they are much narrower than the Dimondbacks, both are 600 x 16. Just my observation.

I have Diamondbacks Radial tires on my 36 3window with stock rims. They ride very nice & smooth. They also can be mounted tubeless , while the Cokers Radials need a tube

I switched from Coker radials to DiamondBack radials on the same car, same rims. Night and day difference. I am thrilled with the Diamondbacks in how they ride, handle and wear.

I have Diamond Backs on my '36 3 window, like them a lot, though the small fronts are a 6 ply which probably firms up the ride some.

Your comment about the fenderless look is what prompted my question above. Since the Excelsior Sport radials have only been out less than a year, I was wondering if that's what jim meant by "new". Hopefully we'll see. They have a squared up shoulder and blocky tread pattern that should look better on a fenderless car. Here's a pic. http://workshop.search-autoparts.com...l?enlarge=true

Have not called the local tire dealers to see if thay have any used ones yet. Just need it to be alittle easier to move around and possibly afew short road tests after I work the brakes over. Rod

I have both Coker Classic and Diamondback radials on my cars and both sources gave me better performance and handling then the old bias ply tires that I had been using. I will never use bias ply tires again. JMO, JM

The Excelsiors look pretty good. I would consider them... maybe. Aren't they blackwall only? I admit there have been a couple cars in some mags that I didn't notice had radials at all. And that is a huge pet peeve for me. I hate the look of radials, especially on a restored car.

I have Coker Classics (5.60 15 and L78 15s) on my coupe and have been to Texas, and all over Illinois Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, on them. I love them and don't ever see a need for radials. My '55 wagon has Firestones (6.70 15 and 8.20 15) and I love them too. They do suck in snow though, that I will freely admit.
