11-39 Speedometer Gear
Someone last year told me at a meet where I could get a 11-39 Speedo-gear...Darned if I could remember. I've converted my 4:11 RR to a 3:54 Ratio..and need a 11-39 gear in the driveshaft turtle...How many teeth?...I don't know. That someone said they only cost $13. I tried Carpenter..No help. I talked with Dick Spadaro and he checked a lot of catalogs with no help either....I'm sure this has probubly been discust before...So I'm hoping someone on the Barn can help me...Dick K

Re: 11-39 Speedometer Gear
Put this as a wanted ad on the swap meet, some of the guys remember how many teeth, I have 18 on mine, for a 3.54 rear... the tire size is throwing it off, but a 19 tooth was worse... Any how, some one will sell you a used one... Karl

Re: 11-39 Speedometer Gear
If you have 600x16 tires and 3.54 rear gears, you will need a 18 tooth speedometer drive gear. they can be purchased at Brattons. Randy

Re: 11-39 Speedometer Gear
Dick-Cape Cod-
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the supply of "18" turtles is rapidly drying up. I could not find a listing in Brattons or Snyder's current catalog for the turtle. And, if "epay" is any indicator these 3.54 speedometer gears are rapidly rising in price. Be prepared to pay $25+ for a used one. Tom |

Re: 11-39 Speedometer Gear
Bratton's Antique Auto Parts, locate in Maryland, had them listed in their on line catalog the last time I checked. Several Barners have bought them there. They also carry all the different turtle housings. I would suggest calling them to get availability details.
