Default Propagation of the (Model A )

I will probaly get some static on this post as I did with talking with

friends. When you go to a "cruise night" at a local location, there

are few if any at all model a fords. Why?

My contention is to put these beautiful cars out there where the kids

can see and touch them. If the younger generation is not given a

chance, they may not go for the hobby.

The few cruise nights where Model A's showed up they were the

one's with the biggest crowd around them.

A night or day out each week is a good thing to keep that A running

and check out the bugs.

Just my thoughts

There seems to be quite a few cruise nights during the week and I'm glad to see them, with a little luck we'll have one every night of the week. I agree, it's a good chance to get the A's out and have a bite to eat and some good socializing. Did you get an A yet Cradlescyth ?

I guess the only objection to some cruise nights is the LOUD music they play. You can't hold a conversation above the racket from the speakers.

Our club (an AACA affiliate) is roughly half Model As. We always have a good representation of Model As on our weekly drive arounds during the summer. Sometimes it is mostly Model As.

How about afternoon cruises. Some of us old people go to bed early.

You got that right, and they also should be playing the music from the 50's, not the later bunch of noise from banging on instruments and dressing like clowns to get attention.

Good point. The last cruise afternoon I went to at our local shopping center, my huckster attracted more attention than most of the other rigs at the show. Yes a huckster is not a "true blue" A but a lot of people and a lot of young kids, think it is "cool".

You are right, many of the cruises around here are full of new Corvettes, Mustangs, and Challengers, but I always take one of the a's or my 1937 and everyone likes to see them especially the older people, The older people aways have a story about when they were young with the cars, we all enjoy it......

When we take our two A's to cruise nights, we find the kids as much or more interested than the older crowd. If a youngster shows a particular interest, we get them in the driver's seat and have them blow the horn. From the look on their face, that sound will stay in their memory, maybe long enough to have an A when they can

We mostly have cruises early in the day here. I took my roadster to one this morning. My car was far and away the oldest car. There was a 34 hot rod, but that really doesn't count. Everything from Jags, to Ferraris, to Lambos, to Maserati to Morgan. I got a lot of attention. One reason I go is for just the reason you mention. A bonus: my 27 y.o. son went with me today. He was out of college when I got my first A and doesn't know much about them, but he will learn a lot this summer. He drove it back from the cruise this morning.

our local ones are generally 5-8pm at random locations, play 50's music, huge variety of cars show up. Occasionally have a special thing going on during the day on saturday.

Mostly 60-70's muscle cars but alot of the big land yahts and 40's cars show up. Yes theres always the handful of new cars (i dont get it - yay i can go out and buy the premium package of (insert car here) car too). Quite a few hotrods show up that are tastefully and well done i must say.

but ive only seen a handful of model A's show up and not very often. Not sure why.

I have found a great many Model A owners in my area, and that includes my own club, are afraid to drive the car!

Don't we see that here as well. How many owners feel 40 mph is the max speed, the brakes don't stop the car, my lights are too dim, and on and on.

Show me a person that says his/her car won't do this or that and I'll show you a person that has a poor or improperly rebuilt systems.

A Model A does not need; halogen bulbs, juice brakes, panard bars, f100 steering, alternators, and so on, but I will tell you if it takes an owner to put these things I mentioned in their car to get their car on the road, then they should do it.

I went to the cruise in Acworth, Ga last yesterday. There was an example of all things listed in the above post. Only saw 3 A's. More than 100 cars total. Lots of very nice cars. MUSIC WAS TOO LOUD. Most cars were 50's and 60's. Several new corvettes and mustangs. A nice 2006 Bentley, a Lamborgini (looked new). A few rat rods and some hot rods. Overall a nice collection of cars.

Why restrict it to club sponsored cruise nights? People get a charge out of an old car anywhere they see it. I love to take my coupe to the polls on election day. What could be more American than going to vote in a model A? Occasional shopping trips, going to the flea market or Lowes to get something. Younger people think it's cool. Heck! I think it's cool!

Years ago I went to some of the cruise nite stuff. Sitting in a lawn chair next to a 1984 Mustang just did not do it for me. (I did not have an A there)

If you enjoy going to these show and tell events I think it is great! To each their own.
Like others in Model A Clubs the one I am in likes to roll not show.
2 day tours seeing Americana is what I love to do. Modifications I have been making are not cosmetic... they have all been directed toward reliability and safety.

We sill get plenty of comments etc. while on tour. 20 A's tooling down the road just looks cool!
