Output shaft, and rear mount/ bearing/seal retainer are the main differences.

Be careful. The output shaft from a 1942-1950 Ford pickup light duty 3-speed will do the conversion. An output shaft from a 1951-1952 Ford pickup light duty 3-speed WILL NOT. The low gear splines on the 1951-2 shaft were changed making it necessary to keep all the gears together.
