32 Tudor parts?
The cover was in a box in the Model B when I got it. Anyone know where it goes? Also, can you ID the horn? there isn't a plate on it that I can see unless he painted over it.
Thanks! |

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Jim, The plate is for the clutch & brake pedal area and goes around the steering col. The horn is correct and is a Klaxon with the Boat tail back & an an expensive part if you are looking for one. I kept the Original one from my 1st car A Deluxe 32 Tudor.

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Not sure about Klaxon. All the 32 boat tail horns that I have seen have a Sparton tag on the top of the rear cover. Could be that Henry had more than one horn supplier?

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
As Kerk has indicated the floor plate goes on the interior side around the pedals and steering column. There is another steel plate that attaches to the engine side with a rubber foam insulation piece sandwiched in between. These pieces are becoming hard to locate, so hang on to them. If I were you, I would purchased the '32 Ford Book(s) written by David Rehor. A tremendous guide to restoring your '32 Ford. Has many illustrations that will answer many of your questions. Can be purchased from the Early Ford V-8 Club website www.efv8.org or Early Ford V-8 Foundation website at: www.fordv8foundation.org
Good luck, Pat |

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Thanks. I have the book but did not see the plate in there. I was able to identify the two engine covers. I looked for the sparton plates on the horn and didn't see one.

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Pat, I have the two volume one. The horn does not have a tag on it. It has been painted at some point and I am wondering if it had the flange tag but was lost. Are the flange plates attached? or are the held on by the bolts that hold the flange together? I did not see anything stamped in it, but I was looking on the top, not on the butt end.

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Jim,
If you need the outer pedal plate, Renners Corner sells them.

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Your horn appears to be the same model as mine, although I am missing the back cover for mine. No markings or tags on mine either (that I can find). My car was built at the Rouge plant sometime around June 1932. (Note this was not my wiring job! This is an old pic and how I bought the car approx 1 year ago.)
Here's a more recent pic - slightly less dingie!

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
I will have to look in my spare box for the other plate (I am afraid to get rid of anything). anyone have a pic of what it looks like? I went through the 1932 book again and still can't find it... of course research isn't my strong suit). qzjrd5, mine has some wiring like that too, just not in red....LOL

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Jim there are three different horns used on 32's two Sparton version like you have, one with a tag curved bolted around the motor body, one with the Sparton tag riveted on the horn cover and a boat tail horn similar to yours but made by GMI. Sparton horns are usually stamped Sparton on the projector body or on the rear peak edge of the horn cover. GMI horns have a small circular GMI mark stamped on the rear peak edge of the horn cover. The later version of the horn is a beep horn which has a round dome shaped motor cover. Yours is either a Sparton or GMI based on the marking that might be pinted over.

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Jim, There is another thread currently on here (32 3W floorboard..I believe). I posted a picture of my newly installed floorboard in 5W Cpe. It partially shows the floorboard plate in the correct position around the steering column and pedals. I am currently on the road and don't have access to my photo files. I will check on photobucket to see if I saved any there. Pat

Re: 32 Tudor parts?
Jim, My 5W had a home-made floorboard in it before I gave Roy Nacewics a call. It even had a wooden insulation piece instead of the foam insulation piece. Pat

The plate on the otherside looks like this. I made this commercial outer plate for my wagon from a pattern. The passenger type is similar, except for the depth of the holes for the column and pedals You can get both plates and insulation at Renner's Corner. Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!
