Be careful to match the paint chip of the color you are trying to select with what you have in the interior.
I say this because in '55 there was a metallic green and a darker metallic green. Two different shades of green. These two different shades of green were never used in the interior of the same vehicle.
Only one of the two colors was used in a given car. The factory painted the bottom half of the dashboard with the pigmented base enamel only (without the metal flake). The top half of the dash and window garnish mouldings were painted with this same enamel (with metal flake mixed in). Thats why it looks like its two-tone, but it is not.
Same principles hold true for the light blue and dark blue they offered.
Some Fairlanes had the tan interior, more commonly seen on Mainline models extensively. Some two-tone tan/white exterior Fairlanes had a tan interior with the bottom of the dash painted with solid white base enamel.
Other colors used on Fairlane metal interior parts were solid white, red, black, yellow, mostly on high-end models such as Crown Vic, Sunliner, and some Fairlane series station wagons.
Although aqua colored vinyl was used on seat and door upholstery in '55, I have never seen those cars with aqua interior metal. Usually, those were one of the two shades of blue.

Hello Dave , good info on the interior garnish mould and dash colours.
I'd wondered about the 2 tone dash ends that I've seen on ebay , as they
appeared to be only half metallic.

Sorry. Whenever I find something I'm interested in and think I may need to refer back to it later, I copy the text off the internet and paste it into a wordpad document.
I have this info in one file with '55 Ford production numbers, VIN decoding info, exterior color codes, interior color codes, some of the info came from different websites. It's been way too many years, maybe decades ago now that I found this info.
Have you tried searching in your computer web browser?
