Default Antifreeze leak

I have a 1949 Ford Flathead V-8. I noticed antifreeze leaking at the rear of the block. It drips right before the flywheel. Is this a cracked block or could it be a rusted out freeze plug? I'd have to pull the trans to see where it is actually coming from. It's a slow leak, is there an additive I could use to stop it? Thanks

Try Barsleak - might do the trick

NOT an 8BA but "just" had the same issue with our 39 Mercury, it was the head gasket from the water port out to the edge of the head and was "PEEING" water out the back between the head and block (NOT into the oil or cylinders) SO I pulled the heads and had them checked and decked and put a new set of head gaskets and it was fixed!!! Hopefully its something simple like that???? OR freeze plugs????

I have found that antifreeze finds tiny cracks that plain water does not.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to find the leak and stop it. It was a small leak where the heater hose enters the shut off cock at the engine. I drained the antifreeze and removed the shut off valve, cleaned it up and Teflon taped it and retightened. Leak stopped. It ran down above one of the spark plugs and down the side of the block and to the back of the engine by the flywheel. Happy it wasn't something more serious. thanks

I too have recently noticed I have an anti-freeze leak on my 59-AB. Dripping from the starter. Can't see where it's coming from yet.

ritzy 1 look into the leak coming from the exhaust manifold bolt above the starter. too long of a bolt and the end of the bolt will go thru the water jacket. I fixed such a leak with Teflon tape around the bolt and used a brass washer against the manifold
