The books are in the hands of the two clubs judging chairman. It is my understanding that the books are "done" except for the the final approval from the two chairs. If one does not like what is presented the other must agree as well. I hope I'm wrong but this back and forth can take a while. Is it a desire to get it done right of a desire to have the last word? I don't know.

Wait until the Christmas package mailing rush is over.
That way there's less chance of them being lost in the mail.

I talked to the MAFCA office Wednesday and the lady told me they are still at the printer and are expected " any time now." She also said the printer has been saying this for weeks. Her guestimate was within a month. It will make good reading during a snow storm I guess.

I checked Mafca web site yesterday and the message there was posted on Nov 29 that they were still at the printers awaiting the start of the production run. Not too likely any large quantity are at either club headquarters. The delay seems to be from printers....

It wouldn't be at the printer if both clubs/committees/chairmen hadn't approved.

I worked my way thru college at a print shop. It was always the printer's fault if something was delayed.

I don't have mine yet either. When I ordered and paid for them at Hershey they were going to be going right out. They've been teasing us for a while now but I guess we have no choice but to wait.

Are they at the printer? Makes no sense tome that a job should wait so long (Months) before being completed. That's money sitting on a computer file. Is business so good that they can wait months before pushing a button?

As I said above and in a couple of other places, I hope I'm wrong, I want to be wrong, I want it to be at the printers. I would love it if an officer of one of the clubs could give a definitive answer.

You have a tremendous grasp of the obvious. The executive must live up to a high degree or level of integrity and deliver when promised. They also can not go into hiding when a contentious issue is raised which they seem to have perfected. The Chairnan should step forward with a factual statement. Wayne

During the recent Model A club elections there was a gentleman on here severs limes a day answering questions and virtually begging for votes. He got elected but now he seems to have just about disappeared. Why is he not providing answers? Maybe he will not show again until next election. Wayne.

I talked to a "high up" person today that said the revisions "are" at the printer and the current plan is to be printed in a week. While I understand it's been awhile and like a kid waiting for Christmas, people become impatient. Stuff happens and those doing the work are volunteers so post #16 is the most sensible.

Everyone who subscribed to the digital edition of The Restorer will receive an email with a link, when it is up and ready to go, that you can follow to read it. The target for this email to go out will be right around the same time that the paper copies are mailed out. So you will get an email roughly every 2 months.

That is great news, no really. That means the politics involved with two clubs joining to produce one common item is over. We just have to sit and wait.

FYI, the following update was posted on the MAFCA home page regarding this:

RESTORATION GUIDELINES NOW AVAILABLE!

December 28 - The long awaited Revision 4 of the Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards are now in stock at the MAFCA Office. All preordered copies have been mailed. If you preordered a copy, you should be receiving it shortly.

We apologize for the delay, but we wanted our members to receive the best quality product possible.

The Guidelines remains a collaboration of both MARC and MAFCA. It will be available as a complete volume for $55 or just the Revision 4 update that you can add to your existing Guidelines for $30, both plus shipping.

To order online, click here: https://mafca.com/cart/index.php?show_price=yes

Or to order by phone, contact MAFCA Headquarters (562) 697-2712 Monday - Friday from 10AM to 4PM Pacific time.

New Release of Restoration Guidelines

December 17 - The long awaited Revision 4 to the Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards was on its way to the MAFCA office when a mistake was discovered. The revision was not three-hole punched and rather than send our members a defective product, the truck was turned around and is going back to Michigan.

The RG&JS are shrink wrapped so the printer will need to open each package, three-hole punch them and reshrink wrap the book. This will take some time and delay our receipt of the new RG&JS until January. Both MARC and MAFCA apologize to the Model A community for the delay. This one was beyond our control. The printer is assuming full responsibility.

From the way it sounded MAFCA had the holes punched locally to expedite the process.. MARC shipped them all the way back to the original place... WTF

Yes the volunteers should be commended for producing an outstanding specimen. These are truly the dedicated people committed to our hobby. They never get the credit they deserve. Got mine today, ordered it from MAFCA when I renewed my membership last fall. They are hitting Illinois now, shipped from Calif.

Model A Fords are a great past time. Covered in every extreme. Not many others can lay claim to the thoroughness we have from folks in THIS car hobby.

No other car marques come to mind with this sort of support.

I'm taking time out for a computer check/rest stop break at Breezewood right now.

It'll be dark when I get there, but I should be able to find Mitch's mansion okay, since he said he would leave all the lights on for me!
It should be lit up like an airport I imagine.

Being the swell guy that he is, he also said I could take a rest in his climate controlled garage for the night if I needed to before I head back to Michigan.

Yes I received mine on the 23rd.
I was following the instructions that came with them. When I got to Area 10 ( Glass & Side Curtains ) it said to insert new Area 10 ( pages 10-1 thru 10-16 ). All that I received was pages up to 12. Question: Was this a misprint with the instructions or am I missing pages ( 13,14,15,16 ]

Am I to understand that if you buy the complete Rev 4, it still has to be assembled from all the previous versions?

The idea is to replace only the pages that have been revised. Some pages from previous revisions were not revised in the Revision 4 and thus are still applicable. Essentially the same procedure when the previous revisions came out.

Not quite "all the previous versions", but...

If you order the complete $55 Rev. 4 volume, you will be sent a complete Rev. 3 (including binder and tabs) plus one set of Rev. 4 updates. You have to put them together. It's no less work.

Received mine a few days ago. They sure did a great job with it. I use this as my maine main reference to try to keep my Model A's as Henry built it.

I never buy the judging standards but I do buy the RESTORATION GUIDELINES (and judging standards). My revision 4 arrived a few days ago and it has been memorized.

I like that! Yes it is a restoration guideline first and judging second. And they changed the name of the book to reflect that several years ago.

My 28 and 30 Canadian cars are very original .The 28 has the original spare tire ,seat cover and top. They are early cars .Both had plate glass windshields .The 28 has a honeycomb radiator .The 30 Fordor has 29 parts on it .I have owned these cars over 60 years and got them from the original owners My guess is that they were assembled in Regina SK and soled by Max Zable ,the first Ford Dealer in northern ALberta . The Ford museum told me that Ford did things just to keep the line moving Thus my 28 rad

Ya, you'll wish for one until you have to restore one.
That sure put a halt to my wishing.

BTW, you are so lucky to have Sissel in your country. I just found out about her the other day, and her singing is like that of an angel. I just bought 3 of her albums.

Tom, I assume that this is the one you are referring to. Acheiving fame at only 16 years, a secluded lifestyle and no scandals to speak of she has become sort of an elevated almost divine figure here.

From your comment and the place where you live, I assume that you may be of scandinavian ancestry ?

eystein, yes, that is the one and only Sissel. One of our Model A club members sent me an email with her singing "Auld Lang Syne", and it was by far the best I'd ever heard. I never heard of Sissel, so I Googled her name and read about her, then followed the "You Tube" link to here more of her songs. I then went to ebay and bought 3 of her albums. We are lucky to have a young girl, Jackie Evancho, who also is a fantastic singer, and will sing at the inauguration in a couple weeks. BTW, you guessed right, I'm half Norwegian and half German.

For others who haven't heard Sissel, here's a link to one of her songs.

I haven't purchased my STANDARDS update yet, and hope to buy a copy at the next national Model A meet. Don't know that I'll ever get my car nice enough to be judged, but I still want to make it as correct as possible.

If it's been memorized you might as well sell the hard copy. Wayne
