Default Information Inquiry, 1930 Model A...

Any information on what is going on in the attached photo of the undercarriage. It looks like to me that the cotter pin is bent and up inside the case. What happened and/or how do you think this happened? Is it right? Car was inherited from family. Just starting to begin the project. Also included few photos of vehicle. Please excuse the layers of grime, grease, etc. Thanks in advance.

First, I love the car! Thanks for the pics.

The cotter key is in the drain hole for the flywheel housing. I was taught that the reason was for it to rattle around and keep the hole free of mud and grease, thus keeping it open. My car still has one. Personally I would spread yours out a bit so it can't be pushed up into the housing.

Yep, my '30 Sedan has that cotter key there too. That's where it leaks a little oil on my garage floor.
But hey, at least you have interior panels, I don't!
Congrats. That's a fine looking Tudor.
