Default Model A Pickup Front Bumpers

Recently someone was admiring my restored 1930 Model A Ford Closed Cab Pickup. They inquired about differences to my 1930 Model A Deluxe Coupe, such as the black colored headlight buckets and the black colored radiator shell.

Then they asked me why the front bumper was not painted black. It got me to thinking. Is nickel plating of the front bumper correct for the 1930 Pickup? I need to have mine replated, so thought best to get clarification.

In 1930 the plating was chromium.

J Franklin is correct, all model A bumpers were chrome plated.

The pickups had a chrome plated front bumper. I think it was in oct 1930 that Ford offered a one piece front bumper that was painted black for the AA trucks.

Thanks all for your responses and comments. I do have a set of Judging Standards, but I loaned them out, so could not look it up.

I find it truly amazing that guys (even in my neighborhood) can't seem to find the time (or the 30 bucks) to buy the book, but will piss away time and money on (do I dare say it?) whitewall tires. Not knocking the WW, but just the idea.

Even if a person isn't interested in having their model A judged, The book gives information on what is correct for year and model.

That's why the "Restoration Guidelines" comes first in the title.

It also tends to settle differences of opinion among my Model A friends as to how and why on a whole raft of things.
