How would I add a master cylinder while maintaining the stock pedal configuration?

See: Snyder's, Cling's, Boling Brothers, Bert's Model A Store, Mac's..... There are many sources for the battery box that mounts a master cylinder to the inboard side and uses the original brake pedal.

It would be easier and cheaper to go back to mechanical in the rear and the mechanical brakes work fine if they are in good shape and adjusted correctly. However, the juice brakes are better if you are going to do a lot of driving in traffic or at high speeds (60 mph). As Gene Bob pointed out, kits are available.

Well after much research and consideration, I am leaning towards hydraulic brakes; disc up front and rear drums. I figured all of the parts and compromises involved. Will cost about $1200. A lot more than going back to mechanical.

Plus it allows me to upgrade the power train.

With both hydraulic and mechanical brakes, the limiting factor in stopping is the amount of rubber on the road. Going hydraulic and increasing power does not do anything to improve braking or safety if you still run original sized wheels, IMO
