New Person
Good afternoon. I joined the Ford Barn about a month ago and just been watching from the background. I have not seen a place for introductions so here it is. (And what do I do? I post it in the V-8 section.) Thanks for the help, already.
My name is Ruthie, I'm retired and new to Model A's. I can turn a wrench but my computer skills not so much. I may have a question or two down the road. Please don't get bored with some of my somewhat obvious questions. I will be popping in and out. Thanks Ruthie. |

Re: New Person
Hey, Ruthie, be sure to put your location into your profile as you may find someone out there who is near to your town/city. That can be a big help at times if you have a problem and need some personalized help.
I am returning to the hobby after a lengthy absence so I too am essentially new to the sport here and learning each and every day. WELCOME. What Model A do you have? |

Re: New Person
Hi Ruth,
Always good to hear about new people that are interested in Model A Forums. Many read Forum messages but may never feel comfortable posting messages, and that is OK also -- maybe like reading the newspaper and never writing a story or commenting on articles. Just glad you are here. |

Re: New Person
"There are no stupid questions! Only the ones not asked!" You've heard that before I'm sure. Here it's true! I've been on here for at least 6 years and I've never seen anyone belittled for a lack of knowledge. Yes, we use Shell Rotella 15/40 oil from Tractor supply in our engines. Some of us use other brands and weights, but that seems to be the most common. The Transmission, Rear end, and steering box use 600W (Preferred) but almost any heavy lubricant will do. There's a good thread on this today. Mod A batteries are reversed with their polarity, It's plus to ground, not like a modern car that's negative ground. Fill your radiator just to the plate you see down in there. Filling it too much or too little will cause it to boil over, Just to the brass plate. Tire pressure is 35 lbs. There are probably at least a hundred other questions you have or will have as you get to know this iconic automobile. Oh and BTW Welcome aboard!

Re: New Person
Welcome! Post a picture of your car, and ask all the questions you want. Every one of us, without exception, was once a new Model A owner, and we learned a lot of what we know from other more experienced people.
Ar least tell us what model of A you have.

Re: New Person
Welcome to the Barn. There are no dumb questions but sometimes a dumb answer. Show us a picture of your Model A when you get a chance. Wayne

Re: New Person
Ruthie, Welcome. I see you live +/- 20 miles E of Roseburg, OR. How did you decide to choose a Model A? Be careful, one Model A in the garage can get lonely and will ask for company. If you're not careful you could end up with a fleet.

Re: New Person
Thanks for the warm welcome all. We had a Model A years ago and I always wanted another one. So I'm not really 'new' to them. It's just I never worked on one (besides some general maintenance) and even that was long ago.

Re: New Person
A lady has joined!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! About time, those that usually join are the grumpy old fart types, you know, bald and walk around with a spare Depends stuck in their pocket. Very few are like me, rich, good looking, everything still works and I sell Grit which reminds me,
"Lady, ya wanna buy a Grit?" Welcome to the Barn where only the ladies have indoor toilet facilities.

Re: New Person
Why don't we add a new member introduction at the top like Ryan's other sites?
