I like the idea of using show tires. In the 60's we ran 19 inch Model A snow tires on the back of Honda dirt bikes.

This picture and post takes me back. In 1963 when I got my first Model A I lived in northern Idaho. Being a 17 year old kid with no money and could not afford something as exotic as chains or snow tires I did the next best thing when we (my friends and I) wanted to take the 'A' on trips out in the snow to go sledding or "hooky bobbing". I carried 2 pieces of old rope, probably about 1" in dia, and wrapped that thru the spokes. It worked very good for driving in the snow and giving me the traction I needed. While I did not think of it at the time, I suppose wrapping rope thru the front spokes would have improved the steering.

Frank, for heavy snow that may not be a bad idea.

I have a set of chains made for the A.They have a heavy metal strap that fits between the spokes, and conforms to the rim.It almost snaps on there. The cross bar chain is fixed to one side, and snaps onto a hook on the other side. There are three per side, six in the canvas bag they came in.The bag says,Ford Model A,19 inch wheels.I've done the rope thing before, but on motorcycles, not on a car.

I made a set this year. Had to buy two pairs to get the length. Wally World "Peerless" $60.00 for the two pairs
