After a lot of hunting down , I ended up getting a set of clevite mains, as well as a set of King ones.

If the scaresage gets too bad they can always be whittled out on a lathe.

Pete, I was going to look at fitting the 8ba centre and front mains but machine the small tag slot on the other side, and using the 81 rear main.

I've used both Clevite as well as King bearings lately - both are high quality. I'm more concerned with bearing clearances than the brand . . . would not have a problem running most any of them.

What material would you use? I need a custom set.

8BA and 59AB front and center main bearings are interchangeable. The rear thrusts are different.

Are the 99A and 59A different? I know the centre and front are the same 59A and 8BA. The rears are different 59A/8BA.

So are 99A and 59A different? I put a 99A together but just reused the old bearings.

99A would be 39 Merc and they had 2.499 main journals, so think they would be the same.
